Live data & monitoring
The Live Risk menu gathers every public, real-time view of the Karst. All of them read the same data plane the operational cockpit uses, so the public sees the same picture (read-only) as the control room.
Live Risk Map
A map of the cross-border Area of Interest (AOI) coloured by wildfire risk. The risk surface combines the Karst Fire Weather Index (KFWI) — a Karst-calibrated fire-weather severity — with a machine-learning ignition model, so it reflects both the weather and how likely a fire is to start and spread.
- Colour runs from low (green) to extreme (deep red). The map is coloured by the risk score, not by raw FWI alone.
- Active weather alerts for the area are summarised on the page.
- Hover or tap the legend for what each band means.
The risk map answers "how dangerous are conditions across the Karst right now?" — not "where is there a fire". For fire-spread "what-if" modelling use the Simulator.
Weather Stations
A live map of 40+ cross-border weather stations (Italian and Slovenian networks). Select a station to see its latest readings — temperature, humidity, wind and rainfall — the same inputs that drive the fire-weather index.
Karst Fire Weather Index (Statistics)
The fire-weather history page: a heatmap of KFWI severity over time plus weather charts. It shows how dryness and danger have built up across recent days and seasons, and explains how the index is composed from its sub-codes (fine-fuel moisture, drought, spread). Air Quality
Live readings from the AirQino low-cost sensor network around Duino-Aurisina: PM2.5, PM10, NO₂ and O₃, with a short explanation of what each pollutant means. Wildfire smoke strongly affects these values, so air quality is part of the territory's early picture.
E-nose early warning
The electronic-nose (e-nose) network detects the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) — the "smell of wildfire" — that precede visible smoke, alongside integrated camera and sensor surveillance. The public page shows live progress of the sensor roll-out.
Sensor integration is still in progress, so the page stamps an explicit "data may be inaccurate" disclaimer over live values. Nothing identifying is shown — only approved, active sensors and their health.
Wildfire History
The historical fire record inside the AOI — past perimeters, burned area and a timeline spanning roughly three decades. It is sourced from the official Italian (A.R.D.I., Friuli Venezia Giulia) and Slovenian registries and lets you see where fire has recurred and how large past events were.
Because the registry's country code is unreliable for these border rows, fires are split Italy/Slovenia by ignition longitude — the same method the platform uses internally — so the totals are consistent.
