About & partners

Karst Firewall 5.0 is an EU Interreg Italia–Slovenia project (ITA-SI0600146, 2024–2027), led by Università IUAV di Venezia with the two pilot municipalities — Duino-Aurisina / Devin-Nabrežina (Italy) and Miren-Kostanjevica (Slovenia) — together with ZRC SAZU, PiNA and the technical partner Infordata Sistemi. Regulatory references

A curated, public library of the laws, directives and standards behind cross-border wildfire prevention — European, Italian and Slovenian — plus the technical standards the platform follows. For binding legal text the page points to the official gazettes (EUR-Lex, Gazzetta Ufficiale, Uradni list).

Open source & open science

Karst Firewall 5.0 is built open-core. The references page links the project's public repositories on GitHub — documentation and methods (terrawise, pyrowise, karst-firewall-50) and the simulation engine, which is released under a copyleft (AGPL) licence. The commercial side is the Karst calibration tables and the hosted service.
